Bike paths and real estate

As we pointed out in our report, The Economic Benefits of Bicycle Infrastructure Investments, studies have shown that real estate property values increase with proximity to bicycle paths. People enjoy living close to bike paths and are willing to pay more for an otherwise comparable house to be closer to one. For example homes within a half mile of the Manon Trail in Indianapolis, Indiana, sell for 14 percent more than comparable houses farther away from the trail.

Thanks for your participation in the SA Walk & Roll Fest!

For those who included the Walk & Roll Fest on your calendar I want to take this opportunity to “Thank You Very Much” for supporting our event on Saturday! J

We had about ½ our normal turnout; but I hope it is because of the weather and competing events that participation was light.

The bike groups that were well represented and I want to especially thank:

Cool Cats

Hill Country

San Antonio Wheelmen

San Antonio Parks and Recreation Adaptive Sports

San Antonio Police Dept Bike Patrol

San Antonio EMS

South Texas Off Road Mountain Bikers

Slow and Low Riders

Thanks also to Bike World for leading a ride to the event and for supporting the cyclists with a check up station.

PS: if your bike group was there and I didn’t recognize you above; please spark my memory.

Thanks, again

Lydia

If we are going to reduce transportation congestion and carbon emissions, we must reduce the amount of driving we do. Try walking, bicycling and/or transit and improve your own health as you make your community more livable.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau's 2008 American Community Survey, bicycle commuting is up 14 percent since 2007.

Each person really can make a difference. Thanks for doing your part.
